BioQuarter, Edinburgh

Client Challenges
Our client Scottish Enterprise has made significant investment in the BioQuarter development in Edinburgh, a new campus for biomedical R&D adjacent to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and University of Edinburgh Medical School. With initial development of research and bio-incubator space complete, SE wanted to focus on the next phase of development and to understand what might be appropriate to provided in terms of further research space and facilities to serve the campus.

Our Solutions
We prepared a report, jointly with GVA, on the potential facilities that might next be developed, looking at what was going to help attract occupiers to the development. Our knowledge of successful R&D development elsewhere, including particular expertise in biomedical developments, enabled us to provide sound and reasoned advice on what the next steps ought to be.

Results
SE is now working with the project stakeholders to plan the next phase of development, with confidence that this will further enhance the location for all those looking to locate there. We continue to work with the design team in exploring the scope and scale of what might be provided.
