Scottish Enterprise is a public sector body responsible for identifying and exploiting the opportunities for economic growth in Scotland. This includes initiatives to build globally competitive sectors, work to attract new investment and create world-class business environments. For a number of years we have worked with Scottish Enterprise (SE) in furthering its work to support innovation in Scotland. We have provided advice on a number of their property projects – further details of which can be found by clicking on the links below.
In Aberdeen we advised SE on how to structure a Joint Venture with the private sector in order to attract new investment to their Aberdeen Science Parks. After an OJEU compliant tender process, we worked with them to agree terms to work alongside Buccleuch Property. The JV successfully delivered improvements to buildings and a new hub facility and SE were able to exit successfully having delivered their goals.
In Glasgow we have provided advice on their West of Scotland Science Park, looking at the potential demand for further floorspace and providing advice on what additional facilities ought to be provided. Our work has included discussions with the University of Glasgow who work with SE to promote the park. We have also provided advice regarding potential delivery of commercial floorspace at South Glasgow General Hospital, alongside an Innovation Centre now under construction.
In Edinburgh we prepared a report on the potential market for bio-manufacturing space at their BioCampus site, which lies close to world leading animal health institutions, and we helped to secure their first occupier. We have also prepared a report on actions to help bring forward the next phases on the development at Edinburgh BioQuarter, looking at both research and amenity floorspace and how the project interacts with the University of Edinburgh and NHS Lothian.
