Warwick Science Park

Client Challenges

The University of Warwick developed its science park in partnership through a joint venture company owned by the University of Warwick, Coventry City Council, Warwickshire County Council, and the West Midlands Enterprise Board since 1982. In 2012 the University acquired sole ownership of the project and needed to understand the extent of opportunities, as well as the challenges, that this new control would bring. Emphasis had historically focussed on looking after small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) and playing an economic development role.

Our Solutions

We asked strategic questions and worked hard to explore how the park could help deliver to the University’s agendas, reaching conclusions on the ways in which enhanced interface with industry could improve research impact and student experience/employability.

Results

We provided a report that identified a strategy for the science park that would enable it to support the University more effectively. The Warwick Business School is expanding its activity, involving further development of accommodation and facilities and the University now has further opportunity to widen its involvement with industry.
